| San Marcos school buses to go high-tech
SAN MARCOS -- San Marcos Unified trustees Tuesday approved the purchase of digital video cameras to outfit buses for special-needs students with surveillance that monitors behavior and acts as a safety tool, according to district officials. The school district is expected to spend roughly $65,000 on 28 cameras that record in color, have night-vision capability and indicate bus location through Global Positioning System tracking. "It's a good investment because every bus is basically equipped with a computer," said transportation coordinator Mike Sawyer. "It's a huge tool for us." .
