| Ghost hunters seek out the spirit world
KINSEY — John and Carol Speer speak of ectoplasmic mist, orbs, residual hauntings and electronic voice phenomenons. They visit cemeteries hoping to make contact with spirits or just prove they do exist. They’re ghost hunters. Their weapons are simple enough — a digital camera, 35-mm cameras, tape recorders, camcorders with night vision, polaroid cameras, temperature gauges and baby powder. Yes, baby powder. They sprinkle it around areas of known disturbances to see if the ghosts leave footprints or smear it. And the Speers have heard from skeptics — ghosts don’t exist; you’re imagining things; you photoshop images. But they still believe. Click here to a photo of ectoplasmic mist and try to find the ghost slurking within the vapors. John Speer has been into ghosts since he was young, and began seriously ghost hunting 20 years ago.
